Golf courses are reminders of how the town first began
in the 1950s in Carefree, Arizona. The community was an
idea developed by Tom Darlington and K.T. Palmer, who
wanted to develop a planned community within the
spectacular boulder formations, mountain views, and
Sonoran Desert beauty. Carefree was one of the
earliest planned communities in Arizona. However, it
wasn’t until 1984 that the town of Carefree was
incorporated. The town has worked hard to make sure that
residential areas and commercial development don’t get
in the way of the natural high desert beauty of the
area.

Most
people, on their first visit to Carefree, Arizona, are
awestruck by the stark beauty of this high desert
terrain. It is a community with huge boulder out-croppings
strewn against the hillside landscape.... it is studded
with majestic saguaro cactus and home to stunning
sunsets and city light views. Tucked into the terrain
and mountains of Carefree are striking luxury homes that
blend well with the desert and the local resort
lifestyle.
